Orcel Manalang
Graduate of Architecture and Urban Planning
Who is Orcel?
I’m a Toronto-based designer and planner with a focus on contemporary-industrial architecture and ecological urban design. With academic training in both Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning, I bring a dual lens to my work—balancing creativity with spatial logic, form with policy, and vision with implementation.
My work spans a range of urban challenges, including brownfield redevelopment, heritage conservation, park and public realm design, and community-informed site planning. I’ve contributed to research publications, design frameworks, and policy-aligned proposals—with a consistent emphasis on cultural and environmental sensitivity.
At the core of my practice is a commitment to equity, sustainability, and design clarity. Whether mapping a transit-oriented community, developing a heritage revitalization strategy, or shaping a conceptual vision through 3D modeling and visual storytelling—I strive to make places that are not only functional and inclusive, but alive with meaning.
Beyond my professional life, I find joy in staying active through working out, running trails, and boxing — taking care of my health helps me stay grounded and energized. I’ve always loved fashion and dressing up, using style as a way to express who I am. One of my biggest passions is street photography — I love observing people, capturing unfiltered moments, and telling quiet stories through the lens. There’s something powerful in noticing the beauty of everyday life, in the way someone walks, pauses, or interacts with the city around them.
